My Son, Day 13 - 24th July

THE "AFTER SAP YEE JIU"  - AFTER THE 12TH DAY

Morning Mr Grumpy!
GREAT GRANDMA  is as CINA as it can get. She is the typical olden chinese women who prefer to have a son than a daughter. In chinese tradition back in the days, Men/Boys are regarded as family treasure as they will continue to carry the family surname  and in Chinese traditions, that is a BFD.
Someone's gonna get it from me RIGHT NOW!.....MOMMY!
Girls however, and unfortunately are insignificant. They have no value as once they get married they have to follow the husbands surname and worse yet, they cannot use their original surname! I have experienced this before on my wedding day and man was i SHOCKED!
Ok lah, at least you got your milk, the smile is back on
Mrs Wong had to throw out a Chinese Hand Fan as we left the hotel to head to my place. Then her mom had to pick it up. The Chinese Hand Fan is called a "Sin" in chinese, its similar to "Sing" which means surname. WSo the significance of this pantang thing is is that the daughter is throwing away her original surname to follow the hubby.....akakakkakakkakaka
After my food, i would like to sleep so dont disturb me

AND I MEAN IT!
Ok, getting a bit over engrossed with that pantang, here is the story of the day "AFTER THE SAP YI JIU"...in the eyes of the elders, a woman who has just given birth is considered "SOW", meaning dirty, taboo and shit like that. And because of that belief, My Grandma, your GREAT GRANDMA didnt come and see you at al until today!
And then.....siesta time
It was a big thing for her. We all knew that she wanted to see you sooooooo much but because of her pantang beliefs, she stayed away......and especially because you are a BOY, it was evena a bigger FRIGGIN Deal for her to see you ASAP!
she planned the most spectacular meal for this special day and the moment she saw you, tears rolled down her eyes and she just couldnt let go of you....FYI, she is 95 years old....it came to a point where she even lightly scolded your mama for the way she carried you.....SO OVER PROTECTIVE your great grandma

But i must say, she loooked superbly happy and that pomelo leave she had stuck on to her jade was classic. it was the funniest shit.

My Son, Day 12 - 23rd July

I will protect this child till the day I can no longer breathe
On this day, Junior finally had his first "Bei See"! also known as nose shit in the kwai lo world. I really dont know what its called in English so Bei See works fine with me. It began in the morning when he was breathing really weird.
He is DAMN cute!
I picked him up and looked at him and saw this yellow color thingy inside his nose and it was making it quite difficult to breathe. I told Mrs Wong about it and we tried using a cue tip to dig it out but the hole is just too small.
The God Damn Mafakkin Bei See
Then I had to go out to run some errands so i left this daunting task to Mrs Wong akakkakaka. But Mrs Wong is a Genius! she got Mrs Alice Wong, your Ma Ma to sort it out for you and boy was that a big Bei See!
There we go, RAWKIN!

The Intense look!
Ma Ma asked if i would like to keep your first Bei See to show it to you in the later parts of your life. I didnt but i took a picture of it! akkaakak
The Chill Out look

The I didnt do it look
Ma Ma has got this sudden craze of buying like Harley Davidson baby t-shirts. Damn cool but friggin mosquitoes cant leave you alone! so no more black baju for the time being k
I love it when he sleeps on my chest

My Son, Day 10 - 21st July

Wong Jhun-U
Name selection for chinese people is DAMN important. Not only does it gives you character, it also affects your health and your future. There are names that are too strong for the person using it and many people actually change their names to avoid getting sick.
Jr getting his Chinese Name TODAY!
Our family names follow the ancestral poem so each generation will have their own chinese character t pair with the surname so the third character in our names is the character that we have to select carefully. My fathers generation was given the word "FATT" meaning prosperity, my generation was given "WEI" meaning proud and the next generation for Jr is "JHUN"meaning smooth/cool.

My son loves his morning bath's
Now armed with the mandatory surname Wong, and the given ancestral name of Jhun, Daddy had to search for the perfect name for you. Daddy went to the same temple that determined your time of birth and she granted us with 3 options. Wong Jhun Tatt ( if i gave you this name, your friends will have a ball of a time), Wong Jhun Ming ( Ok this one Mommy likes but i felt that its a bit to mellow for you) then there was Wong Jhun-U. the "U" means etravagant, sparkle, shine, loud! now thats ma boy!

Grandma does a GREAT job every morning!

Making sure im crispy clean
Everyone making sure that you are clean and free of diseases.

Handsome....

So now you have it, Bruce Jr Wong Jhun-U

Introducing the NEW TROUBLE in town!

Bring on the RUMBLE!

My Son, Day 9 - 20th July

Its AWESOME to be home...
The Doctor gave us a clean bill of health and it was GREEN light HOME! Mommy was sooooooo happyto hear that you did soooooo well. Ok, a piece of advice for  "on the way parents". Jaundice peaks at the 7th day after the baby is born so dont be alarmed if you find your baby's jaundice shoot up on the 7th day. Usually it will subside after that but if in doubt, go check.
I've always dreamed of my son sleeping on my chest this way
The best option is to stay as long as you can in the hospital after birth so that:
1. Mommy gets enough rest
2. In case of a cesarian, the nurse and doctors will be able to spot any complications
3. Baby can chill under those blue UV thingy until the DAMN jaundice is gone
4. Because of the restriction on visiting hours, Mommy can get enough rest

You are safe and warm in the arms of DADDY

This is actually VERY therapeutic....letting the baby listen to the heart bear
So dont be cheap, pay a little extra for that extra care and i would HIGHLY recommend that ALL expecting couples do this....I had LOADS of fun chillin in the hospital with Mrs Wong and Jr....its like spending quality time, just the three of us...
