Chinese New Year, a time when families get together to celebrate a new beginning in the journey of life. This year is the year of the RABBIT, the year of my SON! We have just confirmed the sex of Jr, it’s a BOY and what a distinctive boy he is!
Preparing deco for the home is a MUST. Its a tradition that we have always practice so boy, make sure u take the lead in the future to have this organized for Chinese New Year |
Well, Chinese New Year to me, basically means holiday, gambling, family and friends. It’s the best time of the year coz this is the time when you can gamble freely, play with fire-crackers, pig out on Grandma’s specials!, be spoiled by your in-laws and more importantly, NO NEED TO GO TO WORK!
Cleaning of the altar. Something that is done by all the boys in the family however, this year, both Nic & Chris were advised not to participate as they "Farn Tai Sui". |
I took 2 weeks off work to concentrate solely on my wife giving her ALL the attention she needs and I must say, it was the bestest 2 weeks yet coz this time, we have Jr with us!
Classic, Mrs Wong plucking chicken feathers! |
It was just food galore during the eve and the first day of CNY. Grandma was cooking NON-STOP at the age of 93!! Grandma’s cooking I must say is the shit. I hope Grandma will still be around when Jr is old enuff to taste her cooking. Looking at her, im pretty sure that jr might just be lucky enuff to enjoy it!
Of course we managed to steal some time off to get some tan on this lovely day! |
One day, I will be teaching my son how to swim in this pool |
So this is the usual drill for CNY, Jr, make sure you REMEMBER the drill so that the tradition lives on.
Managed to get a last minute haircut before the new year so i look fresh and bright |
I find this very therapeutic.....jr might be a Botak too... |
Lin Sa Ah Man (Eve of CNY )
Usually the cooking is done in our house with the head chef GrandMaster of All Masters Grandma and supported by Grand Deep Fried Uncle Nicholas. Mummy, Aunt Luxanne and the rest are in charge of cutting the ingredients.
This aint even half of whats coming! |

And dinner is ALMOST ready! |
NOICE! |
Your father me, who is the eldest of the family (Boys segment) is in-charge of the overall operations. I usually tell ppl what they are supposed to do and make sufficient noise for people to notice me…..basically I do NOTHING!.

We usually will have a dinner fit for a king. Grandma will cook anything that has a back facing the sun and the food just keeps coming and coming and coming.

Standing by for the JAI |
After dinner, we proceed to cook grandma’s famous vegetarian thingy, the “JAI” I really hope that grandma will still be around when you can taste solid food so that you can taste the bestest “JAI” in the worlds!
The child expert for the obvious reasons...Aunt Jini...WE RESPECTA U! |
Its been too many years and we are still trying to master the art of Poh Poh's Jai..at Sharp 12am, we begin the vegetarian diet to welcome the new year. Coincidentally, Mrs Wong and I have made a promise to be vegetarian twice in a lunar month on the 1st and on the 15th day.
But of course.....the hottest momma on the block... |
this is because we made a little side bet with god that if we practice this ritual, please keep us away from disease and mishaps. Well this is Lin Sa Ah Man....the night when family's get together and have a great meal!
