Penang Makan Makan trip!

On da WAY!
It was an impromptu trip that we decided to go on and also hearing all the comments from my last trip there about the Nasi Kandar Beratur, it was well worth it, plus i need to maintain my Mayor spot at the Lrg Selamat Char Kuey Teow.

Entering Bidor for the AWESOME DUCK THIGH NUDLE

Mrs Wong of course was toooooooo happy with the idea. MORE GREAT FOOD! This time round we got Christopher and Luxanne to come along on this FIESTA! it was gonna be a full on PIGOUT trip for  2 full days!

Would you just look at that.....YUMMMMMZZZZ

Wasting no time, we woke up at 8am and headed up to Penang on tat Saturday morning. We didnt want to join  the long queue for the AMAZING LRG SELAMAT Char Kuey Teow. Plus, nowadays, Mrs Wong has developed low tolerance to heat so I didnt want her to wait to long for food.
Entering the land of CKT!

And these are MINE!

We only got on the road at 9:30am and reached Penang at 2pm.  I was sooooooo worried that the CKT tutup kedai...but hey, they had to wait for the Mayor! We stopped by Bidor to have the famous Duck Thigh noodle. It was.....AWESOME! plus it fit in perfectly with Mrs Wong's cravings for soup....the damn duck soup was AWESOME!

Biscuits anyone?
When we got to Penang, it was a CKT MASSACRE! Non-stop, 4 people, 6 plates dont waste time! The aunty's daughter already acknowledged us when we got there , she know exactly how the CKT is to be done, add eggs, add prawns. She even came over and ask how far along is Mrs Wong on our pregnancy! NOICE

Something i bought in Bidor that is CRAZILY hot when applied

Dont waste time....

This is the ROAD to remember

I guess Jr will be a superstar at this place when he grows up and we will ensure that Jr tastes this AWESOME Malaysian cuisine! After chowing down on that awesome CKT, we went on over to try to tapau some Ah Guan Ah Pong....not easy, he had 80 more to make before it came to us so we said FARK it, off to check in.

Some biscuits perhaps?

Had to wait too long....maybe next time..

We popped by the famous Him Heang biscuit to grab some yummy "Dau Sar Pneah" i love the way they spell "Pneah"...sounds farking farnee.

Dinner at GURNEY DRIVE

After checking in to Northam, the place where Jr was made, Mrs Wong and Luxanne went straight for the afternoon nap. Soon after, God Father Alan came over to hang out for a while before heading off for his Ping Pong tournament

Club Sixty9ine....

We went for dinner at Gurney Drive. Mrs Wong just loves the Muar Chee there. we hd Sotong Bakar, more CKT, friend chicken skin which was a sin and Rojak. After that, the plan was to head on over to Uncle Sean's club called Sixty9ine in Batu Ferringhi then do some shopping.

The happy Campers at Esplanade
But the REAL plan was to walk off the dinner, let it digest then head on to grab some Balitong and of course, Nasi Kandar Beratur..

BALITONG!
The Balitong and Lala shop that were some of the ingredients that created Jr just ran out so we had to settle for second best. it was still tasty but you know la, nothing like the original...After that, we headed for the REAL supper, that was just starters!

And some LA LA

And there it is....Nasi Kandar Beratur

Nasi Kandar Beratur. Now, just to let you know Jr, your dad is a very impatient man. He hates queues and he is not one who can tolerate waiting when he is hungry. This place has totally hit all your Dad's angry points. The name itself, Beratur - Line Up is already clear that we ALL had to line up for food!

People actually line up on a daily basis!

Uncle Christopher and Aunt Luxanne BERATURING!

Being the guy who loves to do stupid things, your dad proudly lined up to get his packet of Nasi Kandar Beratur. It was dead funny. Dad had soooooo much fun lining up I shit you not. It was just funny that people actually do that!

Mrs Wong & Jr, the VIP's who didnt need to line up

the Fiesta in the room

The food was good, we brought it back to the hotel to eat coz the place was just too hot for Mrs Wong plus we were lining up there for 45 minutes so before my boss, Mrs Wong gets angry, better go back to the comforts of a/c lah...
DONE...

The next morning, we wasted no time and headed to Lrg Selamat AGAIN for the best CKT in the worlds. Luxanne wanted to have the best Asam Laksa so after the CKT, we headed off to Air Itam, Jalan Pasar for the best....i think

Again...the BEST!

Not really a fan of Asam Laksa and i really didnt like the fact that the stall is really next to a pasar, me and Mrs Wong went for a walk at the foot of the Kek Lok See temple.

Kek Lok See temple
The heat was really getting to Mrs Wong so we quickly adjourned and headed back to KL. Now Mrs Wong is asleep but she was feeling really uncomfortable the whole day because of the heat. Sorry Jr, you must be feeling pretty hot in there to since your mum was uncomfortable the WHOLE day...my bad
Some say this is the best Asam Laksa!

Once again, it was just so so so so fun to go on roadtrips with Mrs Wong and Jr, and this time with Chris and Luxanne. next next week we might head to Melaka to do the same thing but maybe we wont stay a night...we'll see how.
